Hello and Welcome!
I hope that this site will serve several purposes during the lead up to, during, and after the event that will be taking place in July 2009.
Firstly, to provide information on the preparation, planning and "doing" involved with walking long distance footpaths from a "first hand" experience.
Secondly, to allow people to follow our progress, and in doing so provide a source of motivation when things get tough!
Finally, to have something to reflect upon once the whole thing is over, to serve as a discussion point for others who might consider such a venture, and maybe even to inspire people, you never know!

Our Route

So, what is this venture all about?
For years I've been mulling over the thought of doing the Coast to Coast walk, a 200 mile jaunt across the width of England from the Lake District, through the Yorkshire Dales, across the North York Moors to end at Robin Hood's Bay. Our family walked this when I was about 13, and it was tough, but an incredible experience.
This time, I wanted to do it for charity, to use the opportunity to raise much needed funds for organisations who are not always in the limelight, but are vitally important to the community which they serve. Mid-2008, having started a new job, got back into the swing of being healthy and generally crawled out of a pretty low time, I decided the time was here and now to announce to the world that I was going to do this walk, and start getting my act together! Here we are, and the date is set! Now all we have to do is raise the money, buy the kit, and walk 200 miles! Hmm!
Walk Organiser, Ruth Cheesley
The walk is open to others who may wish to join the adventure. At the moment we have two participants, we will accept up to a maximum of SIX for safety and logistical reasons. If you would be interested in joining us, please send us an email via the contact us page.
